About the workshop...
Joe Mazumdar, Editor/Analyst at Exploration Insights, a weekly mining sector publication, will present a half-day seminar designed for professionals in geoscience, engineering, economics, and related fields interested in the intersection of technical knowledge and business decisions within the mining sector and how they can contribute value in this area.
The 'Mechanics of financing' segment will explore the capital markets utilized by non-cash flowing exploration and mining companies for funding exploration, development, and production. It will also analyze recent and historical market trends through case studies.
The 'Decision making under uncertainty' portion will delve into the practical challenges of capital decision-making in the mining industry, emphasizing how companies evaluate risk and reward using technical data.
The workshop will be held in English and will not be translated. It will take place on October 10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Vitacura Hotel, Astoria B room.
Joe Mazumdar
Mr. Mazumdar joined Exploration Insights in December 2015 and soon became the sole editor, succeeding Brent Cook. His prior experience includes six years as a Senior Mining Analyst at Haywood Securities and Canaccord Genuity in Vancouver, six years as Director of Strategic Planning and Corporate Development at Newmont Corp. (Denver), and over three years as a Senior Market Analyst/Commodity Trader at Phelps Dodge (now Freeport McMoRan, Phoenix).
Before his career as a mining market analyst, Mr. Mazumdar spent over a decade as an exploration geologist for IAMGOLD, North Minerals, and RTZ in South America (Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Ecuador), MIM Exploration in Queensland, Australia, and Noranda and other companies in Western Canada (British Columbia, Yukon) and Nunavut.
Mr. Mazumdar holds a BSc in Geology (1988) from the University of Alberta, an MSc in Geology and Mining (1995) from James Cook University (Queensland), and an MSc in Mineral Economics (2003) from the Colorado School of Mines.
