About the workshop...
In this theoretical and practical workshop, basic aspects of geochemistry applied to mineral exploration will be introduced. In particular, the workshop will focus on magmatic-hydrothermal deposits with a clear emphasis on copper porphyries. Procedures for interpreting multi-element compositional data from rock and soil to infer rock types and hydrothermal alteration will be discussed. Real data will be worked on in groups, introducing the use of ioGAS software (laptop recommended).
It will take place on October 10 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Vitacura Hotel, Astoria B room.

Dr. Federico Cernuschi
He is an independent consultant based in Punta del Este, Uruguay. He specializes in the geology and geochemistry of magmatic-hydrothermal processes, focusing on the exploration and development of porphyry-type deposits. He integrates classic observations with a hand lens, Anaconda-style mapping, drill core logging, and cross-section construction with integrated geochemical and spectral data studies. Federico provides ongoing support to First Quantum Minerals and services to companies such as Rio Tinto, Lundin Mining, and several junior explorers. In these roles, he has worked on exploration projects of varying geology and age in more than 20 countries and has provided training in geology and geochemistry to multiple exploration teams around the globe. His education includes UDELAR, Uruguay (B.S.) and Oregon State University (M.S. and Ph.D.).
